It happens more often that the state Corona aid also attracts fraudsters.

But a 32-year-old innkeeper from Rottweil was particularly bold: According to investigators, the man had repeatedly submitted new applications for help over several months over the past year and thus sneaked 488,000 euros.

The man is said to have made the last application for help after officials had already searched his home.

On Monday, the Rottweil district court sentenced the innkeeper to three years and two months in prison.

According to the judiciary, the landlord made a confession in court and admitted all allegations.

He had therefore applied for emergency aid because there were actually nonexistent payment bottlenecks.

The investigators said that this was exposed through the extensive investigations by the police and public prosecutor's office.
