Thousands of retailers are apparently planning a lawsuit due to insufficient Corona aid

6:57 a.m.:

According to a newspaper report, the German administrative courts are

likely to face a wave of lawsuits

from the retail sector in the wake of the pandemic.

Several thousand retailers are currently determined to obtain more generous state corona aid through legal action, reports "Welt am Sonntag", citing a survey by the German Retail Association (HDE).

According to this, around 10,000 companies applied for government aid in November and December for procedural reasons by the end of the application period on April 30th.

The merchants cannot hope for an allocation because the November and December aid are primarily intended for the catering trade.

If the retailers receive a negative decision as expected, they can lodge an objection and thus initiate preliminary administrative proceedings.

This in turn is a condition for subsequent lawsuits against the violation of the principle of equality in the Basic Law.

The state is replacing up to 75 percent of lost sales, especially in the catering trade.

But although many shops have also been closed for months, they are only referred to the narrower fixed cost subsidy, explained the HDE.

"That is a clear unequal treatment compared to the catering trade," said association boss Stefan Genth.

According to a survey, three quarters of Germans want to be vaccinated

4 a.m

.: Since the start of the corona vaccinations in Germany almost five months ago, the willingness to vaccinate has increased significantly.

Almost three quarters of Germans over 18 years of age now want to be immunized against the corona virus, according to a YouGov survey commissioned by the German Press Agency.

36 percent of those surveyed have had at least one vaccination.

Another 38 percent plan to do so.

Together that's 74 percent.

Shortly before the vaccination campaign began on December 27, 65 percent of those surveyed at the time said they would be vaccinated.

19 percent rejected this, now it's only 15 percent.

The proportion of people who are undecided has fallen from 16 to 11 percent since the end of December.

The federal government is campaigning for as many people as possible in Germany to be immunized.

The aim is to achieve what is known as herd immunity, which also protects those who are not vaccinated against infection.

According to various assessments by researchers, a vaccination rate between 60 and 80 percent is necessary for this.

According to official information, 30.4 million people in Germany had received at least one corona vaccination by Saturday.

That is 36.5 percent of the total population.
