(CNN Spanish) -  With 14.5 million reported cases of covid-19, the world continues to fight a pandemic that does not seem close to ending and America continues to be the continent hardest hit by the virus.

The United States, with 3.7 million, and Brazil, with about 2.1 million, remain in the first two places on the list of most affected countries, while Peru, Mexico and Chile are also among the first ten , according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

Thus begins the week of July 20 in the ten Latin American countries hardest hit by covid-19.

🇧🇷 Brazil

Confirmed cases:  2,098,389

Deaths: 79,488

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, diagnosed with covid-19, took a walk in the gardens of the presidential palace on Sunday afternoon and greeted a crowd of supporters. He repeatedly lowered his mask as he spoke, even when his assistants were nearby.

🇵🇪 Peru

Confirmed cases: 353,590

Deaths:  13,187

After 120 days of closure due to the pandemic, on July 15 the Lima international airport reopened for domestic flights, state news agency Andina reported.

🇲🇽 Mexico

Confirmed cases: 344,224

Deaths:  39,184

The Mexican Ministry of Health reported that 296 people died from the coronavirus on Sunday. According to data from the authorities, there are a total of 39,184 people killed by covid-19 since the pandemic began.

🇨🇱 Chile

Confirmed cases: 330,930

Deaths: 8,503

The President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, announced this Sunday the "Step by Step" plan, a set of measures that will be applied gradually in the country to advance towards lack of confidence during the crisis of the new coronavirus.
