In connection with the corruption scandal surrounding the Austrian government, the pollster Sabine B., who was initially arrested, was released again.
No application for pre-trial detention had been made, reported the APA news agency, citing the Economic and Corruption Prosecutor's Office (WKStA) in Vienna.
Accordingly, the original reason for the blackout no longer exists.
B. was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of destroying evidence.
The employee of a survey institute is said to have deleted the hard drive of her work computer before searches by the public prosecutor's office.
Last week the WKStA initiated corruption investigations against the former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, his environment and several media.
The ex-chancellor's team is said to have secured his rise to the top of the conservative Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and the government since 2016 through embellished surveys and bought positive media reports.
In return, large sums, including taxpayers' money, are said to have been used for advertisements.
Kurz resigned on Saturday evening under pressure from corruption investigations against him.
He is suspected of infidelity, bribery and corruption.
The new Federal Chancellor is the former Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.
