Jean-Christophe Mocchi, the son of the mayor of Propriano Emile Mocchi between 1971 and 2001, was shot dead Friday evening, June 24, around 9:15 p.m., in the city center of Propriano (Corse-du-Sud), a-t -we learned from sources familiar with the matter.
"He was seated when the shooter appeared and fired behind his back
," added another source familiar with the matter.

The 56-year-old Proprian entrepreneur had already been the target of an assassination attempt in October 2021 in Olmeto-Plage (Corse-du-Sud) while riding a motorcycle.
He had been shot in the arm and leg without his vital prognosis having been committed at the time, one of these sources told AFP.
Contacted by AFP, the Ajaccio prosecutor's office confirmed the identity of the victim without further details, specifying that a magistrate was going to the scene.
A third source told AFP that he had been hit several times and that a second person had been slightly injured by glass impacts at the scene.

The 50-year-old was the head of a building materials company which had itself been targeted by arson in June 2021, these sources also said.
