(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 06 - The authorities of the Maldives have today ordered a tightening of anti-Covid measures, including a night curfew.


    As reported by the news site Avas.ma, in addition to the closure of schools, government offices will also close, which will provide online services. Parks, sports fields, and swimming pools in the Greater Male area will be closed. It also introduced restrictions on travel between the islands of the archipelago.


   Shops, cafes, and restaurants in the capital will have to close by 9pm.


    At the same time, there are no restrictions for tourists going to private-only resorts who will show that they have passed the Covid 19 test with a negative result.


    The order comes following an increase in the number of Covid 19 cases in the country. In the last 24 hours alone, over 700 have been registered. To date, according to data from JohnHopkins University, the archipelago of the Maldives (392,000 inhabitants) has recorded 32,665 cases of Covid 19 and 74 deaths.
