(ANSA) - AOSTA, 06 MAY - Due to the spread of the infection from Covid-19 in the last few hours, the evacuation of numerous mountaineers - but also porters and various personnel - from the base camps of Everest and Dhaulagiri, on the Himalayan range, in Nepal .

This is what the local media reported.

The most serious situation is at the base camp of Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest mountain on Earth, where there are about 150 people including climbers and support personnel for expeditions.

The positivity emerged following the antigenic tests carried out by a medical team of the Nepalese army, which arrived on site. About twenty people including mountaineers and 'positive' Sherpas have already been transported by helicopter to Kathmandhu, others will be evacuated as soon as the weather conditions allow for flight. "The last few days have been crazy and uncertain. Lots of Covid cases, people evacuated and some unexpected to be" writes Andorran mountaineer StefiTroguet on twitter.

There are about 1,600 people at Everest Base Camp.

Numerous Covid cases have been registered, so much so that areas have been created to isolate the positives. About twenty 'infected' have already been transferred to Kathmandhu. The doctors invited the mountaineers not to move from the tents of their expeditions, not to go to visit other climbers, to always keep the mask. (HANDLE).
