The French Senate, controlled by the right-wing opposition, approved overnight the bill for the extension of the health pass and for the mandatory vaccination of health workers in the country, with a series of important changes compared to the text approved by the Assembly national. The parliamentarians will try to agree on a compromise text today in a joint committee from 3 pm, which could allow the definitive adoption of the legislative project already in the evening, but an extension of the debate is not excluded.

The French upper house approved the text with 199 votes to 123, making a series of changes including

the exemption of the pass for minors or terraces

. Emmanuel Macron's government hopes for an agreement by the parliamentarians by today, to avoid a new parliamentary passage and to conclude a debate that has caused strong tensions in the country. Yesterday, over 160,000 people took to the streets across France to demonstrate "for freedom" and "against the health dictatorship", with some incidents recorded in Paris.
