Covid-19: 14,380 classes closed in France, new record

Two weeks after the start of the school year, many students have already been sent home.

According to a press release from the Ministry of National Education unveiled this Friday evening, 14,380 classes are closed due to the excessive number of cases of infected students and even now, faced with the explosion of Omicron, the absence of teachers or staff.

This represents nearly 3% of classes.

At least 331,715 students have tested positive, a figure which is based solely on voluntary declarations by “interested parties” and is probably very underestimated.

More than 25,000 National Education staff have also reported a Covid infection.

Nationwide, at least 226 schools are completely closed.
