After the sharp rise in the number of positive cases, the increase in the number of hospitalizations and serious cases, it is a new indicator of the epidemic which came to confirm, this Friday, the fifth wave of coronavirus in France.

According to the latest figures from Public Health France, the number of contaminations in the school environment has increased from 563 to 5,477 in one week.

There are thus 4,048 class closures due to the health protocol.

A figure not observed since last June.

This Friday evening, the latest hospital data confirms "this recovery that we have been observing for two weeks", as Emmanuel Macron recalled while traveling in a health center in the North.

Thus, according to figures reported by Public Health France, 7,940 people are currently hospitalized due to a Covid-19 infection, against 7,787 the day before, and 7,046 a week ago.

Hospitalizations, critical care admissions and deaths reported every day in hospital increased by more than 30% in one week.

Hospital admissions of coronavirus patients today are slightly higher than yesterday: hospitals recorded 563 admissions in 24 hours, up from 522 the day before, and 362 seven days ago.

In total, 1,353 people are now receiving critical care, against 1,333 the day before, and 1,182 on 12 November.

There have been 129 new arrivals of these most serious cases in the past 24 hours, up from 98 a week ago.

According to the President of the Republic, "nearly 80% of the most serious cases in hospitals are over 50 years old".

1,000 more positive cases than yesterday

Health authorities have also identified 21,220 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, while 20,366 cases were recorded yesterday.

Unfortunately, 57 new deaths from the epidemic are to be deplored, just like yesterday.

This brings the number of people who have died from the coronavirus in France since the start of the epidemic to 118,390 in total.

As for vaccination, the recall campaign could accelerate.

This Friday, the High Authority of Health (HAS) recommended a booster dose for all over 40 years from six months after the second dose.

The government will follow this opinion as suggested on Twitter, Olivier Véran, the Minister of Solidarity and Health.

Following the advice of @HAS_sante, the vaccine booster against Covid will be open to people aged 50 and over from the beginning of December as announced by the President of the Republic.

The extension of the recall to under 50s will be studied shortly.

This Friday, 333,585 injections of the Covid-19 vaccine have been carried out in the past 24 hours, including 36,658 first doses, and 197,438 booster doses.

51,674,072 people received at least one injection (or 76.6% of the total population) and 50,599,550 people now have a complete vaccination schedule, or 75% of the total population.
