A milestone was reached this week, when there were 20,366 new daily contaminations last Friday.

"The national incidence rate should exceed 200 by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," Gabriel Attal predicted on Wednesday.

This Friday, it stands at 231. That is an increase of 54% in one week.

• 34,436 positive cases were identified in 24 hours, versus 21,220 last Friday.

• More than 25,000 positive cases are recorded each day on average, this is more than at the peak of the fourth wave.
