Covid-19: 80 dead in 24 hours, less than 18,000 hospitalized patients

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday urged local authorities to "

strengthen their sense of urgency

" and launch new measures to support a national economy battered by anti-Covid restrictions.

China has been facing a renewed epidemic for several months which has triggered in several cities, including the large metropolis of Shanghai, confinements which weigh heavily on production, consumption and supply chains.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Wednesday dismissed concerns of a spike in Covid cases three days before the general election, saying recent deaths cannot all be attributed to the virus.

Australia has recorded 66 Covid-related deaths and more than 53,000 infections in the past 24 hours.

This is a higher toll than six months ago, when the number of cases stood at around 2,000 and fewer than 20 deaths per day.

Morocco has abolished the obligation of the PCR test to enter its territory in order to promote the return of foreign tourists and support a vital sector for the national economy, according to a government press release published on Tuesday evening.
