The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) counted 23,500 new infections in the country in twenty-four hours on Friday, against 13,000 in France, accompanied by 106 additional deaths.
Over seven days, the number of positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants (incidence) is 135 across the Rhine, against 96 in France, while the reproduction rate (R) is nearly half a point higher (0 , 94).
"The situation is again very tense",
RKI director Lothar Wieler complained on Thursday, a week after reporting positive signals.
