The French health authorities are several months late in integrating the analysis of wastewater into their operational monitoring of the Covid epidemic.
The Directorate General for Health, with the support of Public Health France and the Nancy laboratory of ANSES (National Agency for Health Safety and the Environment), should have taken over from the Obépine surveillance network (Epidemiological Observatory of wastewater) from the end of July.
But it is the scientists who built the network who will continue to manage it at least until January 2022.
