The intensive care services received 35 new patients in 24 hours with the most serious forms of the disease, against 69 the day before and 59 Thursday, according to figures from Public Health France.

In total, 878 patients are treated in these services, against 872 the day before or 902 last Monday.

But the drop recorded since the peak of the third wave - with almost 6,000 patients at the end of April - has been stalling for about two weeks.

The same scenario is visible for hospitalizations due to Covid-19 which include resuscitation figures.

Hospitals admitted 182 new patients in 24 hours, up from 330 the day before, for a total of 6,787 hospitalized patients.

The regular decline recorded since the peak at the end of April, with more than 31,000 hospitalizations, has also marked time for the past two weeks, under the pressure of the Delta variant.

Health authorities fear that the pressure on hospital services will increase in the short term, given the increase in cases of contamination recorded since the beginning of July.

Soon 40 million first-time vaccinated?

On the vaccination side, France is approaching the symbolic threshold of 40 million first-time vaccinated, with 39,798,409 first doses injected, or 59% of the population.

People with their complete vaccination schedule are 33,152,259 (49.2% of the population).

In total, more than 69.5 million doses have been administered since December 27, 2020.
