While 600,000 people who do not have a complete vaccination schedule, according to the Ministry of Health, are likely to see the validity of their health pass come to an end on Saturday January 15, the Omicron "tsunami" continues to overwhelm France and put pressure on hospital staff.
Public Health France lists this Friday 24,511 people hospitalized with a diagnosis of Covid-19, including 2,486 new hospitalizations in 24 hours.
On Thursday, hospitals had 24,154 patients and 21,605 the previous week.
The incidence rate down slightly
Among these hospitalized patients, 310 people have been admitted to critical care in the past 24 hours, units reserved for the most severe cases.
A total of 3,895 patients occupy a bed in these services this Friday.
They were 3,939 the day before and 3,815 a week earlier.

In addition, 196 new deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours in hospital, bringing the number of victims since the start of the epidemic to 126,728 people in France.
Although still very high, the incidence rate fell for the second day in a row, and now stands at 2,826.6 per 100,000 inhabitants.
Over one week, the incidence rate therefore only increases by 15.8%.
This kind of plateau in the incidence rate cannot be explained by a drop in the number of tests carried out, since the positivity rate (19.3%) also decreases slightly.
