Hospitalizations for Covid-19 still on the rise, but the number of patients in critical care wards continues to fall slightly, official figures released this Friday evening show.
These units, which receive the most serious cases, had 3,792 Covid patients this Friday (including 329 admissions), against 3,842 the day before and 3,895 the previous Friday.
The total number of Covid-diagnosed patients cared for in hospital reached 28,457, of whom 3,077 were admitted in the past 24 hours.
They were 27,931 on Thursday, 24,511 last week.
A figure that has been rising steadily since the start of the year as contamination soars.
This situation is explained by the characteristics of the Omicron variant, which is certainly much more contagious than its predecessors but also gives less severe forms of the disease.
This translates into shorter hospital stays and less frequent intensive care admissions.
