The epidemic monitoring indicators are deteriorating in France.

While hospitalizations passed the 7,000 mark on Monday evening (7,079 patients), the health authorities counted 7,137 on Tuesday, against 6,912 seven days ago.

Some 557 patients have been admitted to hospital in the past 24 hours for infection with SARS-CoV-2 or its variants.

At the same time, critical care services received 121 new patients within 24 hours, up from 61 seven days ago.

Monday, 135 patients joined these services reserved for the most serious cases.

This figure had not been so high since the beginning of June.

A total of 978 people are hospitalized in critical care, against 952 on Monday and 876 a week ago.

Public Health France also counts 28 deaths that have occurred in hospital in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 111,716 since the start of the epidemic in the country.

Outbreak of cases

Faced with the rise in the number of hospital patients and the surge in contamination, which regularly exceeds 20,000 new cases per day (ten times more than at the end of June), the government does not want to ease the pressure.

“It is absolutely urgent to get vaccinated,” insisted Alain Fischer, chairman of the Vaccine strategy steering committee, this Tuesday morning on France Inter.

The country should pass in the coming hours the milestone of 50% of people with a complete vaccination schedule (two doses, or a single dose if the person has already had Covid or if they are vaccinated with a single-dose product) . Even if this level remains far from the collective immunity threshold estimated at around 90% with the Delta variant.
