The info not to be missed

Overseas France will renew with the certificate on Saturday.

Containment has been decided in Martinique and Reunion in order to contain the spread of Covid-19.

It will start on both islands this Saturday, and will however allow free movement within a radius of 10 kilometers, a distance beyond which it will be necessary to justify its displacement.

Measures to which is added an advanced curfew at 7 p.m. for Martinique (from Friday) and 6 p.m. for Reunion (Saturday).

The situation in the Overseas Territories is critical. Prime Minister Jean Castex even defined it on Thursday as "dramatic". In Martinique, the incidence rate has reached more than 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and hospitalizations are rising. In Reunion, the prefect noted an "unprecedented exponential epidemic growth". In Guadeloupe, where the state of health emergency has been declared, the incidence rate is climbing, again raising fears of a tightening of measures. The situation overseas is all the more worrying as vaccination coverage is much lower.

The first three patients hospitalized due to Covid-19 in Martinique, where hospital services are saturated, will be transferred to Paris on Saturday by a medical flight, announced the director of the CHU of Fort-de-France.

The army will send "around 40 to 50 military medical specialists (doctors, nurses, resuscitators, etc.) and logisticians" to the island, "in the coming days".

The unexpected info

The Arc de Triomphe must be packed according to the plans of the artist Christo.

The Arc de Triomphe soon packed! A strange spectacle has been going on for several days at Place de l'Étoile in Paris. Workers are busy "packing" the Arc de Triomphe. As planned, on September 18, the entire monument will be hidden under yards of fabric. As imagined by the artist Christo, who died on May 31, 2020, at the age of 84. An extraordinary posthumous work for the man who, with his wife and alter ego Jeanne-Claude (died in 2009), had already caused a sensation in Paris by packing the Pont Neuf in 1985.
