A public bus driver was sprayed with tear gas in the southern town of Lakia, the police announced today (Wednesday).
According to the police report, the attackers were Bedouin rioters, locals.
Police forces arrived in Kaliya, conducted searches and opened an investigation.
The driver did not need medical attention.
The incident that happened yesterday took place near another attack by an Egged driver, in which the bus he was driving was pelted with stones on the way to Eilat.
Egged later said that "these are probably young Bedouin rioters who have recently frequently attacked Egged's buses on the northern Negev roads on a nationalist basis out of, apparently, Egged's bus perception as a symbol of the Zionist regime."
The bus, line 790, was attacked around 2:00 at night on Route 25. The company said the driver had lodged a complaint with the police.
