Criminal charges against President of the German Ice Hockey Federation Reindl

The conflict between the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) and several state associations over DEB President Franz Reindl, which has been going on for months, is entering another round.

On Thursday, Hendrik Ansink, chairman of the Hesse Ice Hockey Association, filed a criminal complaint against Reindl with the Munich public prosecutor's office - among other things on suspicion of granting advantages and breach of trust to the detriment of the DEB.

In June, the SPIEGEL and the "Augsburger Allgemeine" reported on opaque cash flows between DEB, its subsidiary DEB Eishockey-Sportgesellschaft mbH and the sports marketer Infront.

Three state associations then approached the DEB with a detailed catalog of questions about the business.

In return, DEB President Reindl mobilized massively against his critics.

Because Reindl broke up a discussion agreed with Ansink and the brief of a club legal expert also had no consequences, Ansink - as he told confidants - saw no other way than to turn on the public prosecutor's office.

The DEB announced that it "knows neither the content nor the existence of an ad".

The allegations made against Reindl were "inaccurate."

In addition, Ansink and his comrades-in-arms left "offers for information" unanswered or rejected them.
