The Damascus Carpet Factory of the State Company for Wool and Carpet Industry achieved the highest sales rate since its establishment, with a value of more than 446 million Syrian pounds, despite the sabotage it was exposed to by armed terrorist groups at the end of 2013 and the old machinery in which it works, according to Engineer George Safar, director of the plant.

Hilal explained that working on machines and operating them is considered a pure craft work and requires high skill and a long period to master this craft, indicating that this calls for providing the factory with more young manpower after most of the workers in its departments are on the doors of retirement.

Hilal pointed out that the factory consists of three production departments, namely preparations, weaving and rheumatics, in addition to the technical section, pointing out that the factory obtains raw materials through the General Company for Wool and Carpet Industry in Hama, to which the factory is affiliated, while the thread of quality is secured through tenders.

In the preparations department, Ali Al-Joufi, head of the department, receives the raw materials that arrived at the factory through the Wool Company in Hama, so that the workers transform the materials into reels that can be placed on the machines and weaved.

Then the rollers move to the weaving section, where they are placed in a place called the nusba, so that the looms begin to work after the inscription hanging on the jacquard is selected, and at the end of the weaving and weaving process, the carpet comes out in two layers, as explained by Nidal, Sheikh Suleiman, head of the department.

Youssef Samid, head of the final processing department in the factory, explained that after receiving the carpet from the weaving department, the process of planting threads begins by hand and compensating for what was lost during the weaving process. Wool and yarn.

The product then moves to the stage of knitting and "bush", where the production reaches the department in the form of large dresses connected to each other, and the department separates them from each other and put the hanging strings at the end of the carpet and thus becomes ready and travels to the warehouse and the sales hall in the factory according to Amer Radwan Al-Khan, head of the department.
