Homs-Sana
The former player of the Syrian national football team and coach of the Al-Karama team, Abdel Nafeh Hamwieh, passed away this morning at the age of sixty-eight, after a long career in the world of football.
Hamwieh was one of the elements of the golden generations that drew the achievements of Al Karama Club and contributed to winning its titles. He played for the Dignity Men category between 1972-86 and for the Syrian national team between 1980-1986 and participated with the national team in the Asian Cup qualifiers in Jakarta and its finals in Singapore 1984 and scored with Al Karama as a player of the League Championship Seasons 1974 - 1975 - and 1981-1982, he won the Republic Cup in 1982 and retired from playing in 1987 before working as his coach. He also coached the clubs of Hittin, Tishreen and the Lebanese Tower, then returned and served as the club's president as well.
