In order to counteract this, the Wiesse municipal council has now passed a fundamental decision in a closed session.
It says: Future investors who want to build their hotels here must also build an appropriate number of staff apartments.
For many employees in the tourism sector, housing is unaffordable
Bad Wiessee wants to solve a dilemma with it.
As the municipality explains in a press release, the apartments on the free market on the Tegernsee are unaffordable for quite a few employees in the tourism sector.
“As a result, some employees have long journeys, which is problematic in terms of transport policy.
If someone loses their job, they find themselves in an economically difficult situation which, under certain circumstances, can also lead to homelessness. "
Investors knock on the community to request housing
Some investors would ask the municipality to create additional living space for staff housing.
"The impression arises that this suggestion is intended to privatize profits and socialize costs," the community makes clear.
She also emphasizes that the municipal company (KU) founded specifically for the construction of municipal housing does not have the primary purpose of “providing staff housing, but rather to create living space for locals”.
Duty to build housing is stipulated in the contract
From the administration's point of view, it was time to oblige companies to take on greater social responsibility for their employees - in other words: to create living space for their employees.
This should always be mandatory if the investors ask the municipality for additional building permits for an accommodation facility.
The obligation is to be ensured through the creation of project-related development plans and the associated implementation contract.
A corresponding passage is to be anchored in the contract in future.
According to the decision of the municipal council, “a specific and appropriate ratio between the number of rooms to be rented and the number of staff apartments to be built” must be provided.
