In a still complicated context, the decline in unemployment is accelerating
Over one year, given the low point recorded in the first quarter of 2020 in connection with the outbreak of the health crisis, the wage bill for home employment increased by 9.5%, driven by the increase in the declared hourly volume (+ 7.2%) and, to a lesser extent, by that of the hourly wage rate (+ 2.1%).
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2019, the last point of reference before the crisis, the wage bill increased by 2.6%, with the number of hours declared very close to that observed at the end of 2019.
But not all sectors have recovered so quickly.
In the field outside childcare, the sector is doing well with an hourly volume up 1.6% in the first quarter of 2021 and 7.2% over one year.
Child custody still suffers
On the other hand, in connection with the development of teleworking which allows parents to stay at home, the field of childcare at home is still suffering: the number of hours still fell from January to March (-0.8 %), even if the decrease is reduced compared to the previous quarter (-4.3%). Over one year, however, the hourly volume increased by 6.7%.
