Relief for long-distance traffic in the north of Berlin: Deutsche Bahn is planning the ceremonial opening of a second long-distance railway track at the so-called Karower Kreuz for Tuesday (10:00 a.m.). In this way, the group is eliminating a bottleneck on the only access route for long-distance trains from and to the north in the direction of Rostock, Schwedt and Stettin, the railway previously announced.

Berlin - In addition, the signal boxes there have been modernized, new overhead lines have been laid and noise protection has been improved.

The construction project therefore cost around 200 million euros.

Berlin's Senator for the Environment, Regine Günther (Greens), the Infrastructure Director of Deutsche Bahn, Ronald Pofalla, and the Federal Government's Rail Commissioner, Enak Ferlemann, are expected on site.
