When last year's finalist (RB Leipzig) competes in the fourth division (SV Babelsberg), the image of David versus Goliath is often quoted, and some football romanticists dream of a sensation.

It was in the air, but failed to appear in the second round of the DFB Cup: Leipzig prevailed 1-0 (1-0).

In the last minute of the first half, the superior Bundesliga team tore the lead through Dominik Szoboszlai (45th), before Yussuf Poulsen and Hugo Novoa missed their first chances against closely staggered Babelsbergers.

Although RB is in the second English week in a row and coach Jesse Marsch replaced half a dozen players, RB besieged the Brandenburg penalty area throughout.

Babelsberg's attempts to annoy Leipzig with quick counterattacks were limited, the withdrawal behavior of the Leipzigers was too good.

Christopher Nkunku missed a preliminary decision, and so RB had to tremble again in the 90th minute, but Robin Müller's sharp, half-high cross from the right flank rushed through the goal area unaffected.

In the 5-1 (2-0) home win against Holstein Kiel, TSG Hoffenheim struggled to fill its stadium, just like in the Bundesliga.

Only 5000 spectators wanted to see the premier competitive game between the two teams, which is about a third of the permitted capacity of 15,075 spectators.

It got off to an eventful start: When a few seconds were played, Fin Bartels missed a great chance, the misfortune of the outsider would continue: Johannes van den Bergh maneuvered a low cross in front of Andrej Kramarić over his own line (3rd).

Hoffenheim led early, controlled the game and again benefited from an own goal by Kiel: Hauke Wahl wanted to separate Munas Dabbur from the ball, unluckily spitting it into the net (31st).

Shortly after the restart, Phil Neumann was the first Kieler to hit the right goal (47th). Sebastian Hoeneß's team reacted to the shock with their own offensive efforts. Successfully. The 20-year-old central midfielder Angelo Stiller scored his first goal (59th), Dubbar crowned his strong performance with a kick in the left corner (72nd), and Jacob Bruun Larsen completed a counterattack with a lob (84th).

After Preußen Münster won the first round of the DFB Cup because of a mistake by VfL Wolfsburg on the green table, it was the end of the game against Hertha BSC: 3: 1 (1: 1) the Berliners prevailed in the Preußenstadion. The lead by Stevan Jovetić (3rd) had Thorben Deters (41st) evened out, in the second half Ishak Belfodil (79th) and Marco Richter (83th) decided the game in favor of Hertha.

The expected balance of power in the duel between the first division and the fourth division could only be observed briefly at the start of the game: The goal by Jovetić was preceded by a combination of several stations before Dennis Jastrzembski headed a cross from Davie Selkes for the goalscorer (3rd). . Then the joy of playing in Berlin ebbed, Münster bit into the game and came back through Deters, who dusted off after a shot in the post (41.).

Nicolai Remberg weakened his own team with a swallow before the break: The already warned midfielder flew off the pitch with yellow and red (45th + 2).

In the majority, the balanced game hardly changed, but the Berliners were more attentive after a cleared shot from the second row: Substitute Belfodil took the lead again from close range (79th), Richter then made everything clear (83th). .

In a cup duel with high entertainment value, third division 1860 Munich won 1-0 (1-0) against Bundesliga relegated Schalke 04.

Stefan Lex (5th) scored the decisive goal in the game of the traditional clubs on Grünwalder Straße, Schalke had been outnumbered since the red card against Malick Thiaw (48th).

The initiator of the opening goal was Sascha Mölders: The old storm star of the Löwen stole the ball from Schalke Darko Churlinov at the penalty area, played inside to Lex and was then allowed to cheer the lead together with his teammate. After another defensive dropout and a blast from Lex (22nd), Schalke coach Dimitrios Grammozis reacted and brought Thomas Ouwejan for Churlinov.

The Dutchman almost prepared the equalizer with a free-kick cross, Marcin Kaminski's header steered 1860 goalkeeper Marco Hiller with his fingertips over the goal (32nd).

In the second half, Thiaw said goodbye to the game with an emergency brake, Ralf Fährmann parried the due free kick in Schalke's goal with difficulty (48th).

Outnumbered, Schalke managed to put pressure on the hosts' goal again, but the third division team from Munich also had several good counter-opportunities.

Lex only hit the side netting from a promising position (69th), but because in 1860 no more goals were allowed, he remained the Lions' match winner.
