Almost ten years after the violent death of a 42-year-old in Helmstedt, the verdict is due to be made at the Braunschweig regional court on Tuesday (10:00 a.m.).
The 48-year-old defendant is charged with a malicious murder out of greed.
He is said to have killed an acquaintance in Helmstedt in December 2011 and gossiped years later.
Braunschweig - The trial against the German became possible after such a long time, because the prosecutor was convinced that the accused suddenly disclosed the perpetrator's knowledge as a witness.
According to a court spokesman, he admitted last year - almost nine years after the crime - that he had been in the victim's apartment.
The prosecution last week demanded life imprisonment for the accused.
The defense requested an acquittal in case of doubt for the defendant.
