The exhibition of information and communication technology “Hitech”, which started its eighth session last Thursday on the fairgrounds of the exhibition city in Damascus, is hosting a group of student engineering projects in the framework of the trend towards linking the outputs of academic institutions with the labor market.

General Director of the Arab Group of Exhibitions organizing the exhibition, Engineer Alaa Hilal, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that due to the success achieved by the “Buildex” incubator for graduation projects for the first students in Syrian universities, the company was keen to repeat the experience by organizing an incubator for projects within “HITEC” with the participation of a distinguished group of engineering projects Students after providing them with some support so that they can interact with the labor market and approach the requirements of companies and the business sector.

Engineer Helal pointed out that the company provided the participating students with spaces and pavilions to present their projects to visitors, which would provide them with the opportunity to obtain an investor and develop their project to achieve their ambitions and meet the needs of the community at the same time.

Head of the Manufacturing Department at the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in Damascus, Eng. Jamil Lewis, said that the Institute’s participation was represented in six projects, three of which are robotic projects in the field of mechatronics and the other three in the field of informatics. Supporting the medical sector in Syria using big data and studying the possibility of applying machine learning fields in it, designing and implementing a three-dimensional metal wire forming machine, in addition to a project to implement a platform to study algorithms for adapting a robotic arm to faults.

In turn, the Faculty of Informatics and Communications Engineering at the Arab International University participates in eight engineering projects, where the student Saif Azzam “fifth year” indicated that his project is a device that includes “transmitter and receiver” antennas that allow students to conduct practical laboratory experiments “remotely”, pointing out that this matter is important in The world's trend towards distance learning has remained, especially in light of the circumstances the world has gone through during the Corona pandemic, in addition to the possibility of benefiting from this in medical laboratories and industrial laboratories.

The student, Raghad Kaadan, said that her project with her colleagues is a robot that helps customers choose the type of laptop that is appropriate for them according to several criteria, including age, academic specialization, the field in which it will be used, and the programs that the customer desires, indicating that this robot helps new students when they enter the university by choosing the appropriate computer. for them.

Student Kanaan Al-Ahmad indicated that his project is an electronic application for translating sign language for people with hearing loss in order to help them better communicate with the environment and natural people during daily life, indicating that the project is in a state of development and more words and texts can be added to it during the coming period.

A group of robotic projects for children were also present at the exhibition, where Milad Nadaf, director of the Genius Club for Robotics and Programming, indicated that the club is participating in various robotic projects, including a project for a gas station that works to provide cars with alternative energy in the event of a break in the middle of the road and another project for a water tank located at the bottom of a mountain To help put out fires “from a distance” without human intervention, in addition to two other projects that help in rescue operations and provide security and safety for migratory birds.

The exhibition, which continues until the 27th of this month, is accompanied by a number of specialized scientific lectures presented by experts from the most important participating companies on the latest developments in the field of informatics, the Internet, computers and future communication technologies, in addition to presenting some of the experiences of leading companies in these fields.
