A 22-year-old was shot and fatally injured in Dortmund.
The man had died in the hospital early in the morning, said the chief prosecutor Carsten Dombert on Saturday.
A 21-year-old suspect from the city was arrested.
The night before, according to the information, a shot had been fired in the city's West Park, as a police spokesman confirmed.
Dombert said that based on previous knowledge, there was originally a minor argument between two groups of three to five young men each, which probably resulted in a slap in the face.
"But that was probably nothing serious."
Later the groups met again in Westpark, the situation escalated and a shot was fired unilaterally.
A note from the group around the killed led the investigators to the suspect, said the chief prosecutor.
The criminal police are now investigating manslaughter.
