The Democratic Korea Football Association (DPRK) announced today its withdrawal from the second round of the 2022 World Cup Asian qualifiers to be hosted by South Korea.

In a statement on its official website, the federation stated that it had sent an official document to the AFC to announce its withdrawal from the second round of qualifiers and that its decision not to travel to South Korea came due to fears of infection with the Corona virus.

The second round of qualifiers began in September 2019 and was supposed to resume in March 2020 after it was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but most of the second round matches were postponed again to next June due to the epidemic.
