A few days before the start of the season in the Euroleague, Maccabi Tel Aviv finally found a solution - even if temporary - in the unoccupied slot in the foreign power forward position.
Dragon Bender landed last night (Sunday) in Israel, signed with the team, and the Croatian joins in the first phase for three months and reserves the option to return to the NBA ahead of the resumption of the 2020/21 season.
He is likely to make his debut this coming Thursday, against Alba Berlio in Yad Eliyahu at the opening of the Euroleague.
Bender has signed for one season, but as mentioned he will be able to be released from the contract in December, shortly before the start of the NBA season which has not yet announced a final date, but is expected to open the season in January.
At Maccabi Tel Aviv, he will return to collaborate with Ante Žižić, a close friend of the young Croatian national teams and who came with him to train with Maccabi Tel Aviv when they were 15 years old.

The 22-year-old Bender (2.13) returns to Maccabi Tel Aviv for a second term, after making his first steps in the media as a professional basketball player.
He was acquired by the Yellows in 2014 with a big contract for seven years, was loaned in his first season in Israel to Ramat Gan from the national league and continued the following season to the senior team of Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Although he left no special mark and averaged 5.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in 26 Premier League games, he was selected fourth in the 2016 draft by Phoenix.
