From 23 September 2021, all candidates with SLD who want to obtain a driving license will be able to take advantage of additional time (30% more time), in the theory test.
In fact, today (22 September) the ministerial decree 243, of 1 June last, was published in the Official Gazette, introducing this protection.
The Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility (MIMS) has also published, in recent days, the circular 28649, which contains all the implementing provisions of the standard.
The decree and the relative circular regarding the additional time state that all candidates with SLD who will present the diagnostic certification issued pursuant to Law 170/2010 will be able to take advantage of additional time (30% more) to take the theory test of the driving license driving of any category.
To obtain a driving license of any category, the candidate with SLD must show the relative diagnostic certification to the doctor, during the medical examination to ascertain the requirements of psychophysical suitability to drive.
The doctor marks, in a specific computer application, the field indicating the presence of the DSA certification and, therefore, the need to grant the candidate the additional time, before concluding the operations for the issuance of the dematerialized medical certificate.
The time increase is specified in the circular, based on the license category.
The Ministry has made further provisions to allow candidates with SLDs who have submitted an application for a driving license or a CQC to take advantage of the protections described above, before the decree comes into force.
The decree also confirms that candidates with SLD certification are entitled to the support of the audio file for reading the quizzes, without the need for further formalities and that all diagnostic certifications issued to people with SLD by neuropsychiatrists or psychologists, in accordance with art. .
3 of law 170/2010 and with the criteria set out in art.
2 of the 2012 State Regions Agreement, are recognized as valid for the purposes of obtaining a driving license.
