Lam Cheng pointed out that although he does not agree with the saying that "one trial is for life", the reality is that every year DSE is very important for tens of thousands of Form 6 students and self-study students to plan their careers, choose further studies or employment, and many other options. Candidates spend years reading at night with the lights on in order to excel in weeks-long public exams.
"Therefore, in the past three years, I have asked the Education Bureau not to cancel or postpone the examinations lightly, and to take care of all the preparations for the examinations, including providing additional resources, requesting the full cooperation of other departments, and visiting the examination centers set up in schools. In order to ensure that candidates can take the exam with peace of mind under the premise that the risk of virus transmission is controllable.”
She mentioned that preparations for DSE this year are even more challenging due to the extremely high spread of Omicron and the fifth wave of severe epidemics. The government and the HKEAA are striving to strengthen prevention and control measures, including the introduction for the first time that candidates and examination staff are required to first Carry out rapid testing to reduce the risk of infection in the examination room, and at the same time implement the spirit of "one must not be missed", set up a special examination room at the Penny's Bay Community Isolation Facility, and arrange for anti-epidemic shuttle bus, etc.

Lin Zheng suggested that candidates can use the time waiting for their results to plan their further studies.
"The current-term government provides DSE graduates with a certain degree of achievement with a variety of further study paths. In addition to the bachelor's degree programmes of the eight universities funded by the UGC, there are also funding for designated majors/sectors in self-financing institutions. Schemes (such as the Bachelor of Nursing program), an annual subsidy of $33,200 for students pursuing self-financing bachelor’s degree programs, and subsidies for further studies in mainland universities.
