PS5 Production Difficulties: Sony Resumes PS4 Manufacturing
As
Bloomberg
reports, Sony originally planned to end production of the PS4 at the end of last year. However, the slow pace of production of the new PS5 is forcing the company to reconsider this strategy. The components of the PS4 are namely easier to obtain and the production is cheaper. The
high
demand
for the PS5 isn't the only
reason why it's sold out everywhere. The
global
semiconductor
shortage
is
slowing down production enormously and an improvement is not in sight until the second half of the year at the earliest. Therefore, Sony has decided
to continue PS4 production until 2022

However, the current demand for the PS4 for Sony is probably of secondary importance.
According to
Bloomberg
, the continuation of PS4 production also plays
an important role in negotiations with production partners
