The squad of the Schongau "Mammoths" for the Bayern League season 2021/2022 is growing steadily.

Now two key players - a striker and a defender - have given their approval for the new season.

Schongau - The Schongau “Mammoth” squad for the upcoming Bayernliga season 2021/2022 is growing steadily. Now striker Jonas Lautenbacher and defender Leo Zink have confirmed for the new season. EAS team manager Martin Resch "is delighted that the two service providers have agreed, it is also a signal for further negotiations," said the EAS in a press release.

Both players come from the offspring of the Schongau family. And in the end, the path led them back to the Lech - via higher-class teams in the region. Jonas Lautenbacher (25) played up to the pupils at the EAS. Then the Schongauer moved to Füssen and Kaufbeuren. He recommended himself for assignments in the U17 and U18 national teams via the junior Bundesliga. At the age of 18, the striker made his debut in the DEL2 team at ESV Kaufbeuren. For the "Buron Jokers" he made 59 appearances (6 points) within two seasons.

To get more ice age, Lautenbacher moved to the top division EC Peiting in 2016.

There he played 94 league games (11 goals / 14 assists) and was occasionally used as a defender.

For professional reasons, Jonas Lautenbacher had to put aside the effort for the sport a bit and therefore decided in 2019 to return to EA Schongau.

In the storm of the "Mammoths", he immediately ensured a significantly higher penetration power, but was also able to please with his defensive qualities again and again, "said EAS spokesman Gerhard Siegl.

Leo Zink (28) is clearly intended for defense tasks. The Schongauer took his first steps on the ice with the EAS Bambini. Like Lautenbacher, Zink also played in the youth leagues in Kaufbeuren and Füssen. In 2014 he won the German junior championship with the U20 of EC Peiting. From 2012 on, Zink was active in the major league, namely at EC Peiting (until 2014), at ESC Moskitos Essen (2014) and at the "Icefighters Leipzig" (until 2018). In total, he completed 236 league games.

After his return to the Oberland, Zink played for two years with the "ice hackers" of TSV Peißenberg.

In 2020 the defensive man switched to the "Mammoths".

In the 2020/2021 season, which was canceled due to Corona, Zink was only able to play four games due to injury.

But during his missions, the 28-year-old already indicated "what reinforcement he means for the defense of the 'mammoths'", says Gerhard Siegl.
