Peiting - EC Peiting has retained a veteran: Defender Fabian Weyrich extended his contract with the league club for another two years.
“He is the longest-serving player in the team and Mister Reliable,” says team manager Gordon Borberg about the 31-year-old, who has now played 667 competitive games for the Peitinger team and has therefore more than earned the title “veteran”.
"Fabian performs consistently without major fluctuations, and if you put him on the ice, normally nothing burns," Borberg praises his reliable defender, who up to a few years in the offspring of SC Riessersee only went on the ice for his home club.
In 2011 he became German junior champion with the offspring of the ECP.

"He comes from our own ranks and is closely connected to the association," reports Borberg. Weyrich completed his first league game for the ECP in the 2006/07 season at the age of 17. “Fabian has really seen and experienced everything at our club. When he was injured, it really became clear how much calm he brings to our defensive game, ”says ECP spokesman Simon Fritzenschaft only praising words for the veteran who will attack the 700-game mark in the coming season. “We are happy to continue to have him in our ranks,” said team manager Borberg, happy about the approval of the long-running Peitinger.
Martin Hlozek was also delighted. The 20-year-old attacker, who had switched from Red Bull Salzburg's second team to EC Peiting before the season and who scored 29 points in 26 games (15 goals and 14 assists), was named a “rookie” by the specialist magazine “Ice Hockey News” of the year ". The basis for choosing the best newcomer of the season was a survey among coaches, sporting directors and journalists.
