CLP announced today (19th) that it will extend the free charging service of its electric vehicle charging stations until the end of next year, in line with the government's policy to promote the popularization of electric vehicles, and is actively cooperating with the government and the private sector to study electric public transportation. The pilot project promoted Hong Kong towards zero carbon.


Currently, CLP has 54 medium-speed and fast electric vehicle charging stations in major areas of Kowloon, New Territories and Lantau, providing a total of 161 chargers.

Currently, CLP has 54 medium-speed and fast charging stations for electric vehicles in the main areas of Kowloon, New Territories and Lantau. A total of 161 chargers are provided. Motorists can download the CLP mobile app and browse the CLP website to check the nearest location at any time. The location of the charging station, the usage status of each charging station and the latest news are convenient for drivers to find a suitable electric vehicle charging station.

In addition, CLP’s "Smart Charge 2.0" electric vehicle charging support service has received more than 420 applications from private building owners and estate management companies since its launch in November last year, covering approximately 112,000 parking spaces.

CLP has provided free preliminary power supply assessments for approximately 93% of applicants, and provided advice on the power grid planning for upgrading of building power supply equipment and car parks, in order to promote eligible private housing estates and private housing estates that are interested in applying for the government’s "EV Easy Charging Funding Scheme for Housing Estates". Residential buildings have added electric vehicle charging infrastructure in parking spaces.
