In the case of two women killed in Elmshorn, the Elmshorn public prosecutor has filed charges.
The 30-year-old alleged perpetrator is said to have fatally injured the women with a knife in July of this year, a spokesman told SPIEGEL.
He is accused of two counts of treacherous murder.
The man is currently in custody.
The act of violence had caused horror: the two young women, 19 and 23 years old, had been attacked in their own apartment and killed with multiple stab wounds.
As the spokesman said, the accused is said to have gained access to the apartment and then first attacked the 23-year-old.
There was a relationship with her that the defendant himself described as "difficult".
The spokesman declined to provide any further information about the nature of the relationship.
Possible love relationship between perpetrator and victim
The "Hamburger Abendblatt" reported shortly after the fact that the two had had a short love affair.
According to the report, the alleged perpetrator traveled from his home in Baden-Württemberg to Elmshorn in Schleswig-Holstein to commit the murder.
The alleged perpetrator also killed the 19-year-old with several knife wounds in the upper body, the spokesman continued.
Both women died at the scene of the crime.
The spokesman did not provide any information about the background to the crime, nor was there any further information about the nationality of the victim and the perpetrator.
It is still unclear when the main hearing before the Itzehoe district court will begin.
