Elon Musk and Grimes are "semi-separated" after three years of relationship and a child together

After just over three years of relationship and a common child, tech mogul Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, and singer Grimes announced on Friday that they are no longer together.

"But we still love each other, we see each other frequently and we are on very good terms," ​​he said, who has also clarified some of the reasons for the breakup and said that at the moment they are raising their son together.

"For the most part, my job at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas, or traveling across the ocean, and his job," he says of Grimes, "is mostly in Los Angeles. For now she is staying with me and Baby X is in the next room, "he said, referring to the son they have in common, 16 months.

The couple - 49 years old he and her 33 - began dating in the spring of 2018, or at least it was there that they made their relationship official, on the red carpet at the New York Metropolitan Museum gala; in fact, at the gala held a couple of weeks ago they could also be seen, although posing together. It was in 2018 when Grimes - half Canadian (specifically Quebec) and half Ukrainian, whose real name Claire Elise Boucher - and Musk walked hand in hand and made their romance public. The baby's birth, a little over a year ago, was surprising due to the name it had received. They explained its meaning, and Grimes recounted that the X stood for "the unknown variable," while Æ referred to the "elven spelling of Ai," which means "love and / or artificial intelligence." It was Musk who decided the numerical part of the name, since A-12 represents the "forerunner of the SR-17, which is the couple's favorite aircraft because it has no weapons, no defenses, just speed," Grimes explained. "Excellent in battle but not violent," he added. On social media, many asked Musk what to call the boy, hence he called him X.

Weeks after their arrival, the couple had to legally change the name of the newborn, since California law does not allow registering people with a name that includes figures, but must be written on birth certificates "using the 26 letters alphabetical of the English language ”, although apostrophes and hyphens are valid. The couple played with the Roman numerals and the child was inscribed as X Æ A-Xii

The little boy was Musk's sixth child, who had six from his first marriage to author Justine Wilson.

The first, a boy named Nevada Alexander, was born in 2002 and passed away within 10 weeks of sudden death.

Later the couple had twins and, later, triplets.

They separated in 2008, and then he married (twice, in 2010 and 2013) a British actress named Tallullah Riley, with whom he had no children.

In 2017 Musk dated actress Amber Heard for almost a year and a half when she split from Johnny Depp.
