Everything is getting more expensive - often the only constant: the salary.

A study now shows what worries employees and what they want.

The prices of electricity, gas and food are currently rising sharply.

The federal relief packages need time to get going.

With the September salary, many employees will receive an energy price flat rate of 300 euros.

This will help many citizens for a short time.

The challenges that come with the increased cost of living and constant wages are not getting any easier.

A current

Study reveals employees' worries about the future

Salary and cost of living are areas about 80 percent of respondents are more worried about than they were six months ago.

For many (65 percent), the cost of living can no longer be covered with the available salary.

In the

Glassdoor

study, 68 percent of respondents said they would change jobs if it could increase their income.

Another study has shown that salary can be a factor that keeps employees in the company.

According to the current study, which was carried out at the beginning of September, around a third of those surveyed are afraid of losing their job.

Support for workers is necessary, but from whom?

  • 74 percent of those surveyed see the government as having a duty to relieve citizens of the financial burden of energy costs.

  • 19 percent of those surveyed say that the employer is more responsible for this.

The age of the respondents plays a decisive role in the results.

Around a third of employees from Generation Z see the obligation with their employer.

Eleven percent of respondents between the ages of 35 and 44 also have this opinion.

The study also shows that it would be worthwhile for employers to respond to employees.

72 percent of those surveyed stated that they would stay with the company if they were supported with the additional costs incurred.

At the moment, the support looks like it can be expanded, because just as many people say that the employer can do more than has been the case so far.

Some employers have already reacted to inflation (23 percent) with one-time bonuses (31 percent) or salary increases.

Lauren Thomas, an economist at

Glassdoor

, says that how employers respond to the crisis is also affecting future recruitment: "It's important that employers pay attention to the needs of their employees.

In this way, they not only bind their talents more closely to their company, it also strengthens its reputation and the search for new employees if the employees feel that they are in good hands".
