PSV Eindhoven's bad era continues.

Eran Zehavi's team surrendered tonight (Saturday) 2: 1 to Willem II in the Dutch league, and lost to its opponent second place in the table.

For PSV this is a second league loss in a week, after being defeated 4-0 by Feyenoord.

For Zehavi, it was a stormy game, as in the 20th minute he scored a rare own goal for him.

10 minutes later, Zahavi hit the right side and set up 1: 1.

In the end, it was not enough, because a serious mistake by goalkeeper Joel Drummel in the 76th minute decided the fate of the game.

Zehavi referred to the unconventional self-goal he scored and said: "The sun bothered my eyes a bit, but it's not an excuse.

Self-goal is something that happens. Sometimes football is weird and the result is not what we deserved. We had to win, we were dominant the points were in our hands and we lost them." .

In fact, Zehavi is the first player in the Dutch league to score for both sides since Lassa Modi did so in an Ajax uniform in December 2018.

"We lagged behind but came back," Zehavi continued, "there was a long time left, we created situations in the second half as well, but we made mistakes in the second goal and we do not want to blame anyone. We win and lose as a team. There is nothing to talk about Drummel, "Saved us. Sometimes mistakes happen. Two or three weeks ago we were talked about as one of the best teams in Europe, so sometimes there are ups and downs. We need to stop the negative things, we try to get better but I do not want to turn it into a catastrophe."

When PSV hosted Willem II last season, Zehavi was called home before the game due to the same shocking robbery his wife and children went through.

"I did not think about it," said the Israeli, "I try to look ahead and be positive, trying not to think about it anymore."

  • Schmidt criticized Zahavi's defense: "He is not at his peak, he will naturally be disappointed"

Zehavi's coach, Roger Schmidt, commented on the disappointing loss: "I'm not angry because the players gave their best. It was almost impossible to lose, but we lost anyway. Drummel's mistake? Maybe I would have stopped the ball, but mistakes "Even if they are difficult, they are part of the team's progress. Joel Drummel has a good season, and that was reflected in his summons to the Dutch team."

The goalkeeper himself did not hide his disappointment at the end and took responsibility: "I definitely feel guilty. It's nice how the players helped me, need to stay strong. Hope I can make up for it soon."
