The Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Daraa estimated the governorate's production of yellow watermelon this season at 29,010 tons.
The head of the plant production department in the directorate, Eng. Wael Al-Ahmad, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the area planted with yellow watermelon has reached 626 hectares in the current season, of which 436 hectares are irrigated and the rest is rainfed, indicating that the yield of a dunum reaches 15 tons per hectare in rainfed lands and 60 tons in irrigated lands. .
He added: "The yellow watermelon crop has been introduced in the markets of Daraa and Damascus since the beginning of this month, as agriculture is concentrated in all regions of the province, especially Tafas, Dael, Nawa and Tel Shehab."
