Euro women: Spain star Putellas is injured in training

Ballon d'Or Alexia Putellas suffered a sprained left knee three days after Spain's first match at the women's Euro-2022 against Finland, the Spanish federation announced in a statement.

"This morning, Alexia Putellas suffered a sprain in her left knee during training with the selection - the federation announced - The medical examinations will determine the severity of the injury".

    The Spanish Ballon d'Or, who could miss the entire tournament, was injured while training at the Bisham Abbey complex in the town of Barlow, near London.

    The Barcelona attacking midfielder, ;; who last Friday became the only Spanish player to reach 100 appearances with La Roja, is one of the cornerstones of the team led by Jorge Vilda.

In Group B with Germany, Denmark and Finland, Spain will start their European Championship on 8 July (18:00) at the MK stadium in Denbigh.
