Unsuccessful protest by Greenpeace: Shortly before the kick-off of the European Championship game Germany-France on Tuesday evening, a paraglider staggered over the Allianz Arena.
The pilot comes dangerously close to the spectators in the stands and ends up rudely on the field.
Two men were injured in the head during the action initiated by Greenpeace.
The paramotor pilot first flew over the stadium and tried to drop a large yellow ball labeled "Kick out Oil" into the arena.
He got caught in a steel cable construction on the stadium roof and had to make an emergency landing on the lawn.
Two German players hurried to help the pilot, then he was led away by security forces.
The background to the campaign: Greenpeace calls on Volkswagen to stop selling combustion cars that are harmful to the climate.
The environmental organization posted their protest on Twitter at the same time as the action.
Only a short time later, Greenpeace had to apologize.
Tweet:
“This protest was never intended to disrupt the game or harm people. We hope everyone is fine and no one has been seriously injured. Greenpeace actions are always peaceful and non-violent. Unfortunately, not everything went according to plan with this campaign. "
A spokesman for Greenpeace spoke of an "unsuccessful operation" during the game.
Actually, the plan was that the pilot only throws the ball over the stadium.
He wasn't supposed to land himself.
Greenpeace drew sharp criticism with the action.
Jens Gritter, Press Spokesman DFB:
“Of course, we as the DFB also condemn them, because they not only endangered and injured themselves, but also others. And from our point of view that is of course unacceptable and the process is now also being examined, it lies with the police, with the authorities here in Munich, and with Uefa. "
The Volkswagen group denounced by Greenpeace also condemned the action.
Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder announced the consequences.
The police in Munich announced on Wednesday morning that the 38-year-old pilot was being investigated.
He committed various offenses with the campaign for environmental protection - and also violated the aviation law.
