The Tegernsee company Loxxess receives a European logistics award.

On the occasion of the award, founder Peter Amberger speaks about the development of his company with 2100 employees.

Tegernsee -

"Smile" - this is the name of the award-winning logistics concept from Loxxess.

And although the name is an abbreviation for “smart, innovative logistics in e-commerce” and has nothing in common with the English word for smile: company founder Peter Amberger smiles.

And he has every reason to.

Born in Ingolstadt, he

actually

wanted to retire at Tegernsee 25 years ago

.

Little

did the

49-year-old

suspect

that a little later he would

employ

around

2,100 people

in a company that will win a European award this

year

.

Founder actually wanted to retire

As the son of Peter Amberger senior, who founded the forwarding company of the same name in Ingolstadt 75 years ago, Amberger has always been active in the logistics sector.

In 1995 he wanted to retire

,

the year before that he sold his shares in LOG Sped - the former Amberger forwarding company - which had meanwhile

merged

.

Amberger also sold the company he had bought in 1995, Trans-o-Flex,

to Deutsche Post

a year later - after the restructuring had taken place

.

For a short time it looked

comfortable

in Amberger's life.

“I've had a boathouse on Tegernsee for 45 years,” says the entrepreneur.

“I thought it was nice there - and I built a house on a

riverside property

.” But he quickly noticed: all day sailing, golfing, surfing or skiing -

“that's not for me”

.

Loxxess emerged from the Ministry of Defense

After his son advised him to get back into the logistics sector, the 74-year-old bought MDSG, a subsidiary of the

Ministry

of

Defense

, and converted this company into the

Loxxess Group

.

Today Amberger can look back on a success story.

As a logistics service provider, for example for the online sales of the

DM

drugstore chain

, Loxxess transports goods across Europe.

At 26 locations in Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland, the company generates a total of around 210 million euros in sales per year.

Only

twelve employees

work in Tegernsee itself

.

“We are organized on a decentralized basis,” explains Amberger, who has held 50 percent of the shares in Trans-o-Flex since 2016.

Amberger's children succeed him

He is very pleased

about the European Logistics Award from the

European Logistics Association

(ELA) for Loxxess.

“But my children really deserve it.” Amberger himself is now chairman of the supervisory board.

His son

Claus-Peter Amberger

as CEO and his daughter

Christina Thurner

as a member of the management team

pull the strings in the company

.

“Both have shown courage, innovation and pioneering spirit in recent years,” praises the entrepreneur.

Smile concept convinced with efficiency

In a letter to their employees, Claus-Peter Amberger and his sister Christina Thurner are modest: “Without your strong commitment, we should not be able to celebrate this wonderful success.

We would like to thank you all very much for this. ”Loxxess won the ELA award for a concept that combines

people, artificial intelligence and automation

.

Specifically, for example, warehouse optimization software from Heureka Business Solutions

can be used to plan

optimal tours - including for

ordering

processes.

"That saves time and effort," explains the company in a press release.

“Many large corporations applied,” says Peter Amberger.

It is a

great honor

to have won the award.

The

logistics company writes

about the

award-winning concept

: “More

flexibility

in terms of volume growth, forward-looking

planning

,

more efficient processes

and effective

relief

for employees” is the result of the smile concept.

For Amberger, this success is a new incentive - and proof that returning to the industry was the right decision.
