No more battles, hunting scenes, ceremonial portraits.
In Paris, the Fondation Custodia brings man back to his level, a modest figure in the grandiose symphony of nature;
which lives serenely without doing without him.
In an infinitely longer temporality, punctuated by sunrises and sunsets, by seasons... No matter the way, meticulous or spontaneous, academic or not: the some 150 drawings, watercolors or oil paintings belonging to this institute of research in art, but also loans from the National Gallery in Washington, the Fitzwilliam in Cambridge as well as a private collector, were executed mainly in the open air.
