Fire cadres from the Forestry Department, in cooperation with the Civil Defense and the Latakia Fire Brigade, and with the support of a helicopter of the Syrian Arab Army, put out the fire that broke out in the valley separating Sakiyat al-Kart and Jabal al-Nuba in the northern countryside of Lattakia.
The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Basem Doba, told SANA reporter from the site of the fire that the fire broke out in a valley within a pine forest and a steep slope, but the firefighting teams were able to control the fire and prevent its expansion, so that the damage was limited to about 4 dunums due to the speed of response and efficiency in work.
Doba indicated that the firefighters faced difficult working conditions as a result of the fire breaking out in an area that was under the control of terrorist organizations and contained many mines and unexploded ordnance leftovers, in addition to the fact that the roads were unqualified.
Doba pointed out that the Directorate of Agriculture installed 8 firefighting vehicles and vehicles to open roads, in addition to 4 teams of field workers and vehicles from the fire brigade and civil defense, as well as an army helicopter in the suppression process, which lasted about 4 hours.
