unacceptable, cowardly and misguided

" the anti-LGBT + law adopted by the Hungarian government as he prepares to compete in the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend.

The seven-time British world champion said in a post on Instagram "that

before the Grand Prix this weekend, I want to express my support to all those affected by the government's anti-LGBT + law

". "

It is unacceptable, cowardly and misguided for those in power to propose such a law,

" continued the Mercedes driver, a long-time activist against discrimination. “

Everyone deserves the freedom to decide to be themselves, regardless of who they like and how they choose to identify. I urge the Hungarian people to vote in the upcoming referendum to protect the rights of the LBGT + community which needs our support more than ever

”, adds Hamilton, concluding“

love will always triumph

”.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has announced the holding of a referendum on this law, opposed by the European Commission, which has launched an infringement procedure to try to have it annulled.

Adopted on June 15, the law was originally intended to fight against pedocriminality but notably prohibits the evocation of homosexuality and sex change among minors.
