The teaching union Union of Education Workers (UTE-Ctera) resolved to continue on
strike this Thursday
in the City in "repudiation" of the ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice that ruled in favor of the Buenos Aires government in relation to face-to-face classes.
The Court ruled in favor of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and endorsed its "autonomy" in the lawsuit against the decree of necessity and urgency (DNU 241/2021) which, as one of the sanitary measures to mitigate the spread of the second wave of coronavirus, determined the suspension of face-to-face classes in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA).
The UTE considered that the ruling "enables Larreta to
campaign at the expense of health and life
."
The union's determination was to
ratify the teaching strike for Thursday, May 6
, demanding the "maintenance of the distance pedagogical link" for epidemiological reasons, and at the same time claiming "devices and connectivity to guarantee education."

In addition, from the union he insisted with the claim that the Buenos Aires government
cease "the persecution"
of the teachers who until now adhered to the measure of force in the district, as well as the families that decided not to send their children to the classrooms.
In a Twitter thread, they explained that the joint struggle of families, students and teachers "is against the
lies and misleading advertisements
with which [Horacio Rodríguez] Larreta intends to continue campaigning politically at the expense of the health and lives of citizens from the city".
And they accused: "We hold the head of government and his ministers Acuña and Quirós responsible for each one of the
preventable deaths
at a time of extreme saturation of the health system."
Along these lines, they asked for the "continuity of the vaccination plan that has been detained since March after the diversion of 17,342 doses granted by the national government and the urgent delivery of devices and
connectivity so that all students
can sustain the virtual pedagogical link."
In a statement, the teachers union accused the members of the highest court of issuing a ruling "which is not a measure in favor of the presence" but "an
attack against the
national government's
health
system that, in light of the contagions that generates the circulation, ordered sanitary measures to reduce the cases ".
In another paragraph of the document, UTE-Ctera pointed out that "Tuesday, May 4, will be remembered as the day when, while there are only
41 intensive care beds
in the entire City of Buenos Aires, the Supreme Court decided that health is worth less than the political campaign of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta ".
